If you have a leak in your plumbing, it can end up costing you a whole lot of money. All that water running out of your system can mean that you are paying more money to the water department, plus you have to repair whatever damage happens from the leak. The problem is finding the leak. Water is tricky, and it can be really hard to find the precise area where the leak is because water will move, so you may have a leak at Point A, but you don't see the water until it shows up at Point B, 10 feet away. So, you spend the time looking around at Point B, but you can't find the leak because it's not there. There are methods that you can use to help track down the leak.

One way to track the leak is to put in some dye at the source of the water. It can be introduced into your water system at the water meter so that it can spread through your plumbing system. Then, the dye will start to show up where the leak is. The more of the dye that is visible, the closer you are going to be to finding out where the leak is. The dye is non-toxic and won't hurt anyone, but you still might want to have some jugs of water to drink and cook with until the dye is completely out of the plumbing system. The dye will also be highly visible, usually a neon color or something similar, so that it will be easy enough to see, no matter what.

Another option is to use a camera. A plumber can run a fiber-optic camera down into the plumbing system. The camera will have a light on it and be connected with a monitor. The plumber will be able to monitor what is going on in the pipes in real-time, which will allow them to find out if there are any leaks in the system or damage to the pipes. The plumber can mark where they see any problems so that they can get at those pipes and fix the leak.

If you have water leaking out of your pipes, you want to make sure that you can get it repaired as quickly as possible. That means you need to have some kind of way to find out exactly where the leak is. Contact a company like Ongaro And Sons for more information.
